How To Encourage Creativity In Others

Remember the cliché? Praise people in the open and rebuke them in secret?

If you give people chance and believe in their potential you will be amazed by what people can do. It is very vital to know that everyone has unique gifts and talents.

You have a role to play to assist people in bringing their gifts and talents to the world; which also implies rather than just sitting back and waiting for people to be perfect like angels, which we all know it’s not possible; being frustrated that they are not; why not just take charge and create an environment which fosters people to work well and bring out the best in them? It is also called: “creating the ideal psychological working environment.”

It will surprise you that most people want to do something, but since the environment is not really nice for them they tend to withhold themselves, but if you can create the atmosphere where people can display their talents and potentials miraculous things will begin to occur…

There is an old cliché which says: give someone a reputation to live up to and watch them shine. It’s really true. Most people, given the right environment, are hardworking, talented, creative and productive. They want to please others just like you. But sadly most people are hardly ever exposed to an ideal working environment.

When someone is insecure, resentful or frightened; that person simply loses the motivation to do the best for you and all other good qualities of that person can remain concealed. Don’t remind people of how incompetent they are, keep pointing out their mistakes often, belittle them in front of other people and you want them to perform optimally?
When such attitudes by you is been used their job performance is going to be suspicious, because they’ll be either be frightened, insecure and resentful of you which will on the long run affect the business or the organization you are running. You don’t want people working for you to be malingering and doing eye service so be careful…

Remember adults are not kids, they can’t be bullied around, they are grown and matured and do have the mind of their own, and also responsible for their actions, they deserve to treated with respect no matter who they are!

Why not be smart? Increase your odds by securing a more dedicated, hardworking assistant if you treat him with enormous, genuine respect? Wouldn't your assistant be more likely to work hard and keep the best interest in mind if you were to treat him with kindness and appreciation? We should want everyone to feel good about themselves, believe in themselves, feel confident and secure, feel talented and creative; this I bet you is a win-win strategy…

When you encourage creativity in others and have faith in them, it seems you are simply creating the ideal atmosphere for a garden. You are planting seeds for an environment where you are giving failure a narrow room.

When you plant a garden, you want to have the right soil, moisture and sunshine. When you help build people up instead of pushing them down, you create the psychological equivalent. The same timeless principle applies to whether you are hiring a house keeper, an attorney, an accountant, a publicist or anyone else. Surprisingly it also applies to your children, your spouse, your friends and even your neighbors

This principle always works. Do your part by creating the ideal working conditions: be kind, patient and supportive. Then sit back and watch what happens. :)
