Putin Prepares For War, Orders Citizens To Come Back Home

VLADIMIR Putin has put Russia on a war footing, warning citizens to check the availability of bomb shelters and gas masks ahead of potential conflict with the West.

Russian television has been screening state-sponsored infomercials giving guidelines on how its people should prepare for an attack.

State-controlled media has also carried news bulletins urging civilians to familiarise themselves with the nearest bomb shelters and clarifying which government bodies would take command in the breakout of war.

The latest developments come as tensions between Russia and the US rise to their worst levels since the Cold War.
