Bugatti Said To Have Sold 200 Of 500 Chirons

The last few days have seen all manner of wonderful machines drop in on California, with the Pebble Beach concours and Quail motorsport events celebrating everything fast and lovely in the world of cars. The Bugatti Chiron has officially been unveiled, a 1,480bhp, 8.0-liter, quad-turbo W16 engine that propels the four-wheel-drive hypercar to a claimed 261mph top speed. The sprint to 60 mph comes in under 2.5 seconds, while 124 mph happens in just 6.5 seconds.

Only 500 Chirons will be built with more than 200 cars already sold. Bugatti says about 30 percent of the Chiron’s customers will come from the U.S. Deliveries of the new Chiron will begin in the fall.

It’s unclear whether that run of 500 includes the numerous special editions we expect will show up to keep the car in the public spotlight and bid from people who clearly don’t need to ask about the $2.7 million base price.
