Bill Cosby To Stand Trial In Sexual Assault Case

Bill Cosby will stand trial in Pennsylvania on sexual assault charges it was announced on Tuesday (May 24) after a judge ruled the prosecution team had enough evidence to move forward. The case stems from an incident that occurred in 2004 between the TV legend and Andrea Constand, a former Temple University employee who told police Cosby assaulted her after giving her pills that made her legs feel "like jelly" and made her dizzy. Cosby is scheduled to be arraigned July 20th.

Cosby appeared in court today for the hearing and his defense refuted Constand's claims and said the two engaged in consensual sexual activity, according to the Associated Press.

Previously, a slew of women came forward to accuse Cosby of decades-long sexual assault that culminated in a cover story by New York where 35 women told stories about their interaction with the comedian. The allegations have followed Cosby for years but went into overdrive when Hannibal Buress inserted the incidents into one of his routines during a Philadelphia stop.
