2017 Porsche Panamera A Legendary Makeover: Sleeker, Faster

Porsche has revamped its four-door Panamera. Here’s a sedan that goes from zero to 100 in 3.4 seconds, and can take on the most amped up sports car. Porsche said the redesign combines the performance of a sports car with the comfort of a luxury sedan, and is only the second time the German car manufacturer changed the model since releasing it in 2009.

Porsche said that the new design will have a more “dynamic flyline” in addition to having specific elements from the 911. Just to setup a whole new body manufacturing facility, the company spent $550 million. The car will come to the USA with two renditions in tow. A modest 440-horsepower version that will sport a 2.9-liter, twin-turbocharged V6 engine called the 4S and a more powerful 550-horsepower 4-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 engine called the Turbo. The car will be driven by an 8-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission, packing an all-wheel-drive. While the 4S variant will go from 0-60 mph in 4 seconds the more powerful Turbo will do the same in 3.4 seconds.

Other features on the 2017 model include three-chamber air suspension, rear axle steering, a new chassis management system and features that provide additional comfort and safety. Porsche also said that the Panamera will come with a new feel inside with an updated display and control system that incorporates smartphone functionality.

The new Panamera has a longer wheelbase for more passenger room, more trunk capacity, and no loss in headroom despite a lowered roofline. All Panameras get LED headlamps with the possibility of adding steerable units to see around turns. The rear tail lamps make the 2017 model look a lot more like a Porsche 911. Also for nighttime driving, Porsche will offer a night vision system.

There’s a lot of 911 styling infused in the design of the all-new Panamera. On the inside, it is rather impressive with a 12.3-inch touchscreen display that controls Porsche’s famed infotainment system. The 2017 Porsche Panamera 4S will start at $99,999 while the Panamera Turbo will go for $146,000.
